The Charleston Community Band

Mission

The Charleston Community Band is an entirely volunteer, non-profit organization serving the Trident area since 1978. The CCB provides an opportunity for adults to perform concert band music after completing their school years.

Membership in the Band is open to proficient brass, woodwind and percussion players beyond high school, and under our mentorship program, to younger musicians. Our mentorship program is part of our commitment to music education, and is open to high school musicians.

The band is comprised of approximately 75 players from all walks of life who live and work throughout the tri-county area (Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester counties). We have a number of professional musicians, but most of our members would best be described as dedicated amateurs who enjoy playing good music.

The band plays, on average, fifteen concerts annually for varied audiences and community events.  Because all concerts are free to the public, we depend upon donations to cover travel expenses and the purchase of music to keep our sound fresh and exciting.
